Our experience in Wroclaw as digital nomads
Something we loved about Wrocław is that it doesn’t feel saturated with tourism. We lived there for a full week and managed to get into a fairly local routine: working from cafes, walking at sunset by the Oder River, and going out to dinner without rushing.
Prices are lower than in other European cities, the internet is fast, and the people are very friendly. Furthermore, it is a university city, so there is constant movement, bars, events, and a young vibe.
From our experience, it is an ideal destination to stay for several days and discover it little by little.
Things to do in Wrocław: essential places
Market Square (Rynek)
The Rynek is one of the largest and most beautiful medieval squares in Europe. Colorful, lively, and surrounded by historic buildings, it is the heart of the city. You will definitely return here several times.
During the day it is ideal to explore calmly and take photos, and at night it becomes full of life with bars and restaurants. For us, it is one of the most beautiful things to do in Wrocław without a doubt.
Wrocław Town Hall
Located right in the square, the Town Hall is a late Gothic jewel. Its facade is impressive and inside it houses a museum. Even if you don’t go inside, it’s worth observing the architectural details.
Fun fact: downstairs is one of the oldest restaurants in Europe, the Piwnica Świdnicka.
Cathedral Island (Ostrów Tumski)
It is the oldest part of the city and one of our favorite corners. Cobblestone streets, gas lamps lit by hand at sunset, and a super romantic atmosphere.
If you are looking for things to do in Wrocław with a calmer and more spiritual touch, this neighborhood is unmissable.
Cathedral of St. John the Baptist
Inside Ostrów Tumski is this impressive Gothic cathedral. We recommend climbing the observation deck of one of the towers for a different view of the city.
University of Wrocław and Aula Leopoldina
The university is another key point. The Aula Leopoldina is a spectacular Baroque hall, very well preserved. We didn’t expect to find something so striking.
Racławice Panorama
A unique cultural experience: a giant panoramic painting representing a historic Polish battle. Even if you aren’t an art fan, it’s worth it for how different it is.

Bridges and the Oder River
Wrocław has over 100 bridges. Walking by the river, crossing them, and seeing the city from different perspectives is a simple but beautiful plan.
The Gnomes of Wrocław
There are over 600 gnomes hidden around the city. Searching for these little characters becomes a fun game, even for adults. It is one of the most original things to do in Wrocław.
