One clarification before we start: Dhigurah is an inhabited local island in the Maldives, not a resort. This means local rules apply, the village has its own pace, and bikinis are restricted to the designated beach. Best time to travel and things to do in Dhigurah<\/h2>\n

Before deciding what to see in Dhigurah, it’s worth checking the calendar.
The dry season runs from November to May<\/strong>: less rain, calmer sea, and clearer water. Within that window, January to April provided us with the best underwater visibility (we visited at the end of January and the sea was calm and spectacular).<\/p>\n

From June to September, the southwest monsoon hits:<\/strong> there is more plankton, visibility drops a little, but this increases the activity of the large animals that come to feed. The Maldives is not in a hurricane zone, so even in the wet season, rains are usually short and intermittent. What does change is the sea: with rough seas, transfers and excursions get canceled.<\/p>\n

Whale sharks can be seen all twelve months of the year<\/strong> in South Ari, so the season doesn’t define that experience.
