Why it is worth visiting Turckheim<\/h2>\n

Turckheim<\/strong> does not always appear on lists of the most visited sites in Alsace, and that, paradoxically, is one of its greatest charms. While in Colmar tourist groups crowd in front of Little Venice, in Turckheim you can walk peacefully through cobbled streets almost without crossing paths with anyone (depending on the season)<\/strong>. The quality of the experience is different.<\/p>\n

The village preserves its three medieval gates intact<\/strong>, which is quite rare in the region. Along with its walls and its medieval urban structure, Turckheim was recognized as one of the Plus Beaux Villages de France<\/em> (The most beautiful villages in France)<\/strong>, a seal granted with very strict criteria for heritage conservation and landscape quality.<\/p>\n

How to get to Turckheim from Strasbourg or Colmar<\/h2>\n

We went by car<\/strong> from Strasbourg, which took approximately one hour<\/strong> following the A35 highway south and exiting at Colmar. From there, Turckheim is only 5 km further west, via the D10. The road is already beautiful<\/strong>: vineyards on the sides and the Vosges in the background.<\/p>\n

If you don’t have a car, the easiest option is to reach Colmar by train<\/strong> (there are frequent connections from Strasbourg that take less than 30 minutes) and from there take the regional bus<\/strong> line or even make the trip by bike<\/strong>, which we’ve heard is completely flat and very pleasant.<\/p>\n

There is also a small train station in Turckheim, with trains connecting directly to Colmar in about 10 minutes. It is a practical and economical option if you travel without your own vehicle.<\/p>\n
